The Florida Rehabilitation Council (FRC) welcomes you to our website. The councilís primary purpose is to be a strategic partner with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). Council members offer guidance and advocacy intended to improve vocational rehabilitation services; we often vote as a council to forward recommendations for VR consideration on important or emerging issues.

I am honored to begin my term as the newly elected Chair of the Florida Rehabilitation Council (FRC). As a person with disabilities and a former customer of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), I understand the importance of the services this agency provides to the citizens of Florida. This agency has given me the keys to make my own path to the jobs and career that I thought I could never achieve. Through VR I was able to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida State University. I feel I will always be indebted for the opportunities opened by VR. The best way I have found to give back is to give my service to represent others like myself needing the right push for employment.

It has been a privilege serving for the past two years on the FRC and to learn from a group of devoted and talented individuals. I look forward to working together with this great team of individuals to implement the new guidelines of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) signed into law by the Federal Government on July 22, 2014. WIOA brings together the core programs of Federal investment in skill development in a strategic coordination with Department of Laborís employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, and youth to assist individuals of all abilities in obtaining employment. This partnership on the state level will allow a stronger relationship with CareerSource Florida and VR to help all individuals find employment.

As chair of the FRC for the upcoming year I look forward to working with VR to promote the implementation of WIOA along with assisting Vocational Rehabilitation in planning, developing and improving statewide rehabilitation programs and services.
