General Information
DVR School to Work Transition involves a number of activities that help students enter training, continue education and/or work after leaving high school. Our goal is to help students who want to work become better prepared for life beyond high school.

Transition Services Defined
- Coordinated set of outcome oriented activities for a student that promotes
movement from school to post-school activities
- Based upon the individual student’s needs, preferences and interests
- Includes instruction, community experiences, the development of
employment and other post-school adult living objectives
- May include acquisition of daily living skills and a functional vocational
evaluation
- Promotes or facilitates the achievement of the employment outcome
identified in the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
- Actively facilitates the achievement of the student’s employment goal
described in their Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE)

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments (IDEA) of 1997, enacted with strong bipartisan support, significantly improved the educational opportunities for children with disabilities. The IDEA ’97 focuses on teaching and learning. It also established high expectations for disabled children to achieve real educational results. A fully interactive Web site designed to assist students with disabilities, their families and professionals plan for transition upon graduation from high school.

Provides handbooks, guides and forms to help students, families and professionals understand and obtain financial aid for education.

Connecting the Disability Community to information and opportunities. The site provides up to date information on most disability issues.

Parents' Guide to Transition
This guide has tools for parents to prepare them for their child's transition from public school to postsecondary education and adulthood. Includes information about laws that protect parents' rights as well as the rights of adult children in college.
