Mission
The Florida Rehabilitation Council is committed to increasing employment, enhancing independence, and improving the quality of life for Floridians with disabilities by evaluation, planning, and the coordination of services.
Who We Are The Council is appointed by the Governor and must be composed of a majority of individuals with disabilities. Appointments are for three years and a member may serve two consecutive terms. Florida State law sets a maximum number of members at 25.
Executive Committee The Executive Committee is composed of the FRC Chair, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairs, immediate Past Chair, the Chairs of four Standing Committees, and the Director of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Coordination Committee The Coordination Committee is responsible for coordination with other Councils in Florida, including the Independent Living Council, Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, the State Mental Health Council, and others to avoid duplication of efforts.
Planning Committee The Planning Committee works as a strategic partner with the Division Planning Unit on holding public forums and developing the Goals and Priorities for the Division's State Plan.
Evaluation Committee The Evaluation Committee is charged with gathering customer satisfaction data from consumers of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Legislative Committee This highly active committee visits every state legislator at the Capitol during legislative session. Educating Legislators is their top priority. A great deal of communication with Senate and House Leadership allows FRC to keep them up-to-date on DVR’s accomplishments and budget needs. Through strategic partnership with the Division, the committee also keeps FRC informed of legislative activities.
Public Awareness Committee The Public Awareness Committee will develop brochures(s) and other materials which can be used as educational tools for garnering interest in membership on FRC. Develop other materials for
promoting interest in employment of persons with disabilities. Track members demographics including
term expiration dates. Review of state wide demographics related to public awareness as needed.
