Committee Role
The Coordination Committee of the Florida Rehabilitation Council is mandated to coordinate with other councils in Florida, including: the Independent Living Council, Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, the State Mental Health Council, and others to avoid duplication of efforts. The Coordination Committee is additionally charged to interact with other state agencies. Those agencies include: Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Client Assistance Program, and the Florida Coordination Council of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; as well as with other community stakeholders.

The Coordination Committee has three Task Forces housed within the Committee. The Transportation Task Force is active and has five members. The Coordination Committee is giving careful consider to reinstating the other two task forces. They are the Mental Health Task Force, and the Transition Task Force. The purpose of these Task Forces is to identify joint issues for the purpose of developing a unified delivery system maximizing all available resources.

Transition was the focal point for the Coordination Committee this year. The committee selected five ad hoc members, from a variety of agencies, to help them in this endeavor.
